Treatment for whiplash
The treatment of whiplash depends on the type of accident and severity of the injury you sustained as there is no single treatment for whiplash that is widely accepted amongst doctors. The diagnosis of a whiplash injury happens through a careful examantion of the head and neck.
If you have been in a car accident we would always recommend you visit your local hospital or GP surgery as a whiplash injury can be a very serious and you may require an X-Ray to check for any broken or fractured bones.
The pain for a whiplash injury can usually be controlled with a cold compress which can also aid to reduce bruising or swelling that may appear, other pain relief such as paracetamol or ibuprofen can help ease the pain but we always recommend seeking a Gp’s advice before taking any medication.
