Whiplash accident:
A whiplash injury is most often caused due a road traffic accident. The injury occurs when the head is suddenly forcefully jerked either backwards or sidewards and a reflect contraction that takes place in the opposite direction. This injury affects nerves, bones, muscles tendons and the neck. There is also swelling as well as the inflammation that is caused due to the rapid movement of the vehicle and although your body is restrained by a seat belt your head isn’t.
A whiplash accident is an unexpected and rapid forceful moment of the neck and can occur in any accident and at any speed. It is believed that whiplash can only happen if you are in a high speed impact. However this is very untrue and you can receive a whiplash injury even if you are travelling at very low speeds.
